Hinduism

Hinduism is the dominant religion, or way of life in South Asia. Includes Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Saktism among many other traditions, and a wide range of laws and regulations of the "daily morality" based on karma, dharma, and societal norms. Hinduism is a categorization of intellectual or philosophical points of view, rather than a rigid common set of beliefs.Hinduism, with about one billion followers is the third largest religion in the world, after Christianity and Islam.
Hinduism has been called the "oldest religion" in the world, and some doctors refer to it as Sanatana Dharma, "eternal law" or "the way everlasting" beyond human origins. Western scholars consider Hinduism as a fusion or synthesis of diverse cultures and traditions, with different roots and no single founder. Prescribe the eternal duties such as honesty, refraining from harming living beings (ahimsa), patience, tolerance, moderation, compassion, among others.
Hindu practices include daily rituals and puja (worship) and recitations, annual festivals and occasional pilgrimages. Select group of ascetics leave the ordinary world and participate in ascetic practices of a lifetime to attain moksha.
Hindu texts are classified into Shruti ("ear") and Smriti ("remembered"). These texts theology, philosophy, mythology, Vedic yajna and agamic rituals and temple building among other topics concerned. Major scriptures include the Vedas, Upanishads (both śruti), Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, Puranas and Agamas Manusmṛti
